Payment information. On behalf of UTA, First Data and Authorize.net process financial transactions originating on this Site and store data associated with those transactions. If you complete a financial transaction through this Site, Authorize.net and/or First Data collect and store your name, credit card number, credit card expiration date, and any other information necessary to process and track the transaction.

Demographic information. We may collect information like your gender and date of birth if you fill out a survey or apply for an aged-based discount. We may collect other information necessary to substantiate an application for a reduced fare product.

Trip and location data. We collect information about where you tap on and off in order to improve transit service.

UTA does **not** sell personal data. If UTA ever engages in data-sharing requiring optout under UCPA, users will be notified.

  Information in anonymous, aggregated form may be shared freely.

We may share if a government agency or investigatory body requests it. We might share information when we are investigating potential fraud. Certain personal information is protected under Utah’s Government Records Access and Management Act (“GRAMA”). Information submitted to UTA may be classified as a public record under the Government Records Access and Management Act (GRAMA), unless an exemption applies.

We may share information for other reasons we may describe to you.

User data collected through rideuta.com is classified and stored according to UTA’s Data Classification Policy and applicable Utah Public Records (GRAMA) retention schedules.
Record series may include website analytics logs, customer inquiries, or feedback submissions.

Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach, UTA will comply with the notification requirements of Utah Code §63A-19-405 and §63A-19-406, as described below:

  • Breaches affecting 500 or more individuals: UTA will notify the Utah Cyber Center and the Office of the Attorney General within five (5) days of discovering the breach, and will notify affected individuals without unreasonable delay after determining the scope of the breach.

  • Breaches affecting fewer than 500 individuals: UTA will create an internal incident report and provide it to the Cyber Center upon request, along with an annual report of all such incidents.

  • Notice to individuals will be provided by email and/or mail, and may also be provided by text or telephone. For breaches affecting more than 500 individuals where contact information is unavailable, UTA may issue a press release or social media notice.

  • Data breach notices will describe the nature of the breach, the personal data involved, steps UTA is taking to address the breach, and recommendations for protecting yourself from identity theft.

UTA may delay notification at the request of a law enforcement agency if notification would impede a criminal investigation.

 

 

You have certain choices about sharing and marketing practices.

You can opt out of receiving our marketing emails. To stop receiving our promotional emails, follow the instructions in any promotional message you get from us. Even if you opt out of getting marketing messages, we will still send you transactional messages. These include responses to your questions or information about your account.

Our Sites and apps are meant for adults RideUTA.com is not directed toward children under 13. UTA does not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you are a parent or legal guardian and think your child under 13 has given us information, you can contact customer service at rideuta@rideuta.com, please mark your inquiries “COPPA Information Request.”  Upon receiving a verified COPPA request, UTA will promptly delete or cease processing any personal data collected from a child under 13.

We use encrypted security measures.

UTA implements administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal data and reduce risks associated with unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse. The ordering pages at the Site that ask you for sensitive personally identifiable information are highly secure. UTA uses a standardized universal Internet encryption in connection with certain personally identifiable information collected on the Site. When you send information from your computer to our servers at the Site, it is encrypted so that the information is protected during its transmission. However, the Internet is not 100% secure. We cannot ensure that your use of our Site(s) will be completely safe. We encourage you to use caution when using the Internet. This includes not sharing your passwords.

We keep personal information as long as it is necessary or relevant for the practices described in this Policy. We also keep information as otherwise required by law.

Under the UCPA, Utah residents have the following rights regarding their personal data:

UTA will respond to a verified UCPA rights request within 45 days of receipt. If additional time is needed, UTA will notify you within the initial 45-day period and may extend the response period by an additional 45 days, for a maximum of 90 days total.

If UTA denies your rights request, you may appeal the denial by submitting a written appeal to officeofdataprivacy@rideuta.com within 30 days of receiving the denial notice. You may also file a complaint with the Utah Data Privacy Ombudsperson.

Data Privacy Ombudsperson: Under Utah Code §63A-19-402.5(1)(c)(iii), you have the right to file a complaint regarding UTA’s data privacy practices with the Utah Data Privacy Ombudsperson. The Ombudsperson’s office is located within the Utah Department of Government Operations.

At-Risk Employees: An at-risk employee (as defined in Utah Code §63G-2-302) may request that their personal information held by UTA be classified as a private record.  UTA may update this Privacy Policy to comply with legal changes, technology updates, or operational needs. The most recent revision date will be displayed at the bottom of this notice.
