Regional Zero-Fare Transit Study
View DetailsThe Wasatch Front Regional Council (WFRC), the Mountainland Association of Governments (MAG), the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), and the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) jointly conducted a study to evaluate the potential effects of partially or fully eliminating fares on the UTA system. The study was a data-informed, technical process intended to provide decision makers with information regarding the financial, operational, and community-related tradeoffs of four different alternatives to partially or fully eliminating transit fares.
Box Elder to Weber County Corridor Preservation
View DetailsUTA is working with willing sellers to purchase a 50-foot
corridor adjacent to Union Pacific’s track between Ogden and Brigham City, to
support future transit options linking these communities. UTA has successfully
obtained several properties, including a future station site, in Box Elder
County.
Davis-SLC Community Connector

SD Overhaul
View DetailsThe original TRAX vehicles, which began service in 1999, were Siemens SD100 cars. UTA has since added 17 Siemens SD160 light rail cars. UTA is overhauling these vehicles, by federal requirement, to safely achieve their projected 30-year operational lifespan.
Bus Speed and Reliability Program
View DetailsThe BSRP is a system-wide, ongoing effort to improve the speed and reliability of bus service across UTA’s service area. The BSRP is modeled on similar programs at peer transit agencies that have successfully improved bus operations through interventions at locations where delays occur. The program is beginning with a small number of high-ridership initial study routes but is envisioned as a long-term process to address delay anywhere it occurs in the network.
Active Transportation to Transit Plan (AT3P)
View DetailsUTA is developing an Active Transportation to Transit Plan (“AT3P”). Public transit accessibility relies on active transportation accessibility. Active transportation includes human-powered mobility, such as biking, walking, or rolling. At the stop or station-level, every transit trip on UTA’s system at some point involves some form of active transportation to board, wait, travel to and from public transit locations, and more.
Customer Experience Action Plan
View DetailsUTA’s Customer Experience team is engaging riders to look holistically at their entire journey through UTA’s transit system. This document will identify customer facing projects and improvements to address shortcomings in the system.
